5th Division Circuit Court Receives Grants

 5th Division Circuit/Judge Rhonda Wood received a grant from the Community Foundation of Faulkner County, an affiliate office of the Arkansas Community Foundation, Inc. for a computer, interactive parenting software and Teen Court Case tracking software for use in the Teen Court Program.  Grant funding for the Juvenile Court has also been received from the Arkansas Coalition of Juvenile Justice/DYS-Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Program for family empowerment groups involving empathy training based on a restorative justice model.   Families will work toward communication; family meetings, negotiation, cooperation and contracts; personal mission statements; setting limits ad consequences; the "gift" of work; and the juvenile will dedicate public service to any victim as a way of paying back the community.   5th Division Circuit court also received a grant from the Arkansas Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission to train two of their juvenile officers in school conflict resolution to be used to mediate and intervene in incidents at Carl Stuart and Bob Courtway Middle Schools.   If you are interest in becoming a VPO (Volunteer Probation Officer), new VPO training will be Saturday, July 18th from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  To receive an application, call Faye Shepherd at 501-328-5918 or e-mail This email address is being protected from spambots.
