Judge Troy Braswell was sworn into his second term as Second Division Circuit Court Judge on January 1, 2021. He is beginning his seventh year as the Juvenile Court Judge. During his first six years, Judge Braswell has reinvigorated the Juvenile Court by focusing on community partnerships to help at risk youth. He currently serves as the chair of the Juvenile Judges Association, a member of the Supreme Court Commission on Youth and Families, and the Arkansas Specialty Court Committee. Judge Braswell is the former chair of the Arkansas Youth Justice Reform Board.
Judge Braswell is an advocate for using an assessment tool aimed at smarter sentencing of juveniles. During his time on the bench, there has been a 79% reduction in the confinement of juveniles in the local jail, a 53% reduction in commitments to DYS and a 35% reduction in delinquency cases filed by the Prosecuting Attorney.
Immediately prior to his election, Judge Braswell was the chief deputy prosecuting attorney for the 20th Judicial District.
